The authors show that the target space of two-dimensional \((4,0)\) supersymmetric sigma models having torsion coupled to \((4,0)\) supergravity is a QKT manifold, i.e., a quaternionic Kähler manifold with torsion. They then present four examples of geodesically complete QKT manifolds, one of which is a generalization of the LeBrun geometry. The twistor space associated with a QKT manifold is constructed and it is shown that, under certain conditions, it is a Kähler manifold with a complex contact structure. Finally, the authors show that for a \(4k\)-dimensional QFT manifold, there is an associated \(4(k+1)\)-dimensional hyper-Kähler manifold. Contents include: an introduction, local \((4,0)\) supersymmetry, examples, twistor spaces, HK structures from QKT manifolds, concluding remarks, and an appendix.
