Nun hat \\textit{Maxwell} darauf hingewiesen, da\u00df \\textit{Henry Cavendish} 1773 dasselbe Gesetz durch andere Methoden gefunden hat. \\textit{Whittaker} (S. 50) zeigt, da\u00df schon fr\u00fcher \\textit{Priestley} (``History of electricity'', 1767) dasselbe Gesetz ausgesprochen hat. Die Arbeiten \u00fcber \u00c4thertheorien von \\textit{Cauchy} und \\textit{Green} sind ziemlich vollst\u00e4ndig behandelt.
