Korovkin's theorem on convergence of positive linear operators on a space of continuous functions was generalized in several directions. Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be compact Hausdorff spaces. In [\textit{T. Hachiro} and \textit{T. Okayasu}, Stud. Math. 155, No. 2, 131--143 (2003; Zbl 1011.41011)] the authors studied the convergence of a sequence of unital linear contractions, acting between \(C(X)\) and \(C(Y)\), towards a fixed linear isometry. In this paper the authors deal with the convergence of sequences of (not necessarily contractions) positive linear maps to a (not assumed to be linear) isometry on spaces of continuous functions combining ideas given in [loc. cit.] and in the original proof of Korovkin's theorem. In particular, they obtain proper generalizations of [loc. cit., Theorems 3.1 and 4.1] and of several classical Korovkin-type results, and provide several illustrative examples.
