A natural domain decomposition method with non-matching grids (Q2486135)

A natural domain decomposition method which allows the coupling of different local meshes without the use of additional Lagrange multipliers and without additional restrictions is considered. The approach is based on the use of subdomain Dirichlet-Neumann maps which are defined by solving Dirichlet boundary value problems locally. The resulting variational problem is formulated on the skeleton of the domain decomposition. Numerical results for two models are illustrating the efficiency of the scheme.
