It is shown that for Fr\u00e9chet-Hilbert spaces the property \\((\\Omega )\\) implies property \\((S_{\\Omega })_t.\\) The smoothing property \\((S_{\\Omega })_t\\) leads to decompositions of the form \\(x=S_{\\theta }x + (x-S_{\\theta }x)\\) which are closely related to the classical estimates of smoothing operators. The spaces \\(C^\\infty(\\Omega )\\) for an open set \\(\\Omega \\subset \\mathbb{R}^N\\) and the spaces \\(\\mathcal E (K)\\) of \\(C^\\infty\\)-functions on \\(K\\) in the sense of Whitney for an arbitrary compact set \\(K\\subset \\mathbb{R}^N\\) satisfy condition \\((S_{\\Omega
