The Ito-Michler theorem states that the prime \\(p\\) does not divide \\(\\chi(1)\\) for all \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}(G)\\) if and only if \\(G\\) has a normal abelian Sylow \\(p\\)-subgroup. On the other hand, the Thompson theorem states that if the prime \\(p\\) divides \\(\\chi(1)\\) for all non-linear \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}(G)\\), then \\(G\\) has a normal \\(p\\)-complement. Thus, as a corollary of Thompson's theorem for odd primes, if the odd prime \\(p\\) divides \\(\\chi(1)\\) for all non-linear \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}(G)\\), then \\(\\mathrm{O}^{2'}(G)\\) is a proper subgroup of \\(G\\).  It is natural to consider some subsets of \\(\\mathrm{Irr}(G)\\) and try to get some similar results. One of these subsets is \\(\\mathrm{Irr}_{\\mathbb{R}}(G)\\), the set of real-valued irreducible characters of \\(G\\). It was proven in [\\textit{S. Dolfi} et al., Math. Z. 259, No. 4, 755--774 (2008; Zbl 1149.20006)] that if all non-linear \\(\\chi\\in \\mathrm{Irr}_{\\mathbb{R}}(G)\\) have odd degree, then \\(G\\) has a normal Sylow \\(2\\)-subgroup. Also, it was shown in [\\textit{I. M. Isaacs} and \\textit{G. Navarro}, J. Algebra 356, No. 1, 195--206 (2012; Zbl 1259.20007)] that if the odd prime \\(p\\) does not divide \\(\\chi(1)\\) for all \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}_{\\mathbb{R}}(G)\\), then \\(\\mathrm{O}^{2'}(G)\\) has a normal Sylow \\(p\\)-subgroup. On the other hand, in [\\textit{G. Navarro} et al., Isr. J. Math. 171, 157--173 (2009; Zbl 1186.20010)], it has been proved that if all non-linear \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}_{\\mathbb{R}}(G)\\) have even degree, then \\(G\\) has a normal \\(2\\)-complement.  In the paper under review, the authors prove that if the odd prime \\(p\\) divides \\(\\chi(1)\\) for all non-linear irreducible characters \\(\\chi\\in\\mathrm{Irr}_{\\mathbb{R}}(G)\\), then \\(\\mathrm{O}^{2'}(G)\\) is a proper subgroup of \\(G\\). This is a generalization of Thompson's theorem for odd primes by considering real-valued irreducible characters. The paper is an interesting paper and the proofs are
