Let \(W^2:= e^{-2Q}\), where \(Q: R\to R\) is even, continuous and is of ``smooth'' and of faster than polynomial growth at infinity. Such a weight is often called an Erdös weight of which the standard example is \(W_{k\alpha}(x):= \exp(-\exp_k(x)^\alpha)\), \(\alpha>1\), where \(\exp_k= \exp(\exp(\cdots))\) denotes the \(k\)th iterated exponential. We define the orthonormal polynomials corresponding to the weight \(W^2\) by \(p_n(W^2,x)= \gamma_nx^n,\dots, \gamma_n>0\), \(n\geq 0\). Here, the author obtains the \(L_p\)-norm of \(p_n(W^2,\cdot)W(\cdot)\) \((0<p<\infty)\). These estimates are essential in studying convergence of Lagrange interpolation and orthogonal expansions in weighted \(L_p\)-norms. The author uses bounds for \(p_n(W^2,x)\) for a class of Erdös weights obtained by him with \textit{A. L. Levin} and \textit{T. Z. Mthembu} [Rend. Mat. Appl., VII. Ser. 14, No. 2, 199-289 (1994; Zbl 0816.42015)]. The reader should refer to the original paper to get a full flavour of the results.
