(2) Let X and Y are quasi-complementary (i.e., \\(X\\cap Y=0\\) and \\([X+Y]=E)\\), but not complementary subspaces of a Banach space E. Then there exists a closed subspace \\(Y_ 1\\supset Y\\), \\(\\dim Y_ 1/Y=\\infty\\) and \\(Y_ 1\\cap X=0.\\)    Some known results follow from these theorems as corollaries. For example, theorem (1) can be used to show that if \\(X^{**}\\) is separable, then X and \\(X^*\\) contain infinite-dimensional reflexive
