Let \(S^d\) denote the unit sphere in the Euclidean space \(\mathbb R^{d+1}\) \((d\geq 1)\). Let \(N\) be a natural number. A collection of \(N\) distinct points on \(S^d\) is chosen. In a given way the Riesz \(s\)-energy associated with these points is defined. If this Riesz \(s\)-energy obtains its minimal value the corresponding distinct points are called minimal \(s\)-energy points. It is generally expected that these points are ``well-separated'', which is numerically expressed by a given inequality. In the paper it is shown that the above mentioned points are well-separated in the case \(d-1\leq s<d\).
