The primary difficulty in studying composition operators on the ball is that not every holomorphic self-map induces a bounded composition operator on the standard spaces. Moreover, in many cases even when boundedness can be established, it is difficult to obtain useful norm estimates. This paper presents a new proof that every linear fractional map of the unit ball induces a bounded composition operator on the standard scale of Hilbert function spaces on the ball. The authors obtains new norm bounds which are analogous to the standard one-variable estimates. The author also shows that Cowen's one-variable spectral radius formula extends to these operators in higher dimensions. The key observation underlying these results is that every linear fractional map of the ball belongs to the Schur-Agler class.
