The author establishes a sufficient condition for multidimensional mappings \(T\) (on a bounded domain) with a finite range structure to have the weak Bernoulli property when they do not necessarily satisfy Rényi's condition. Under several assumptions on \(T\), some of them being only technical, it is shown that \(T\) is exact and that Rohlin's formula holds for \(T\). A natural extension of \(T\) and conditional measures with respect to this extension are constructed. Using Rohlin's formula the absolute continuity of the conditional measures is proved from which the weak Bernoulli property follows. Three examples are given: a one-parameter family of maps of an interval, a skew product transformation associated to inhomogeneous Diophantine approximation and a complex continued fraction transformation. None of them satisfies Rényi's condition but all satisfy a ``local Rényi's condition''.
