The main aim of this article is to analyse whether the \(q\)-deformed \({\mathcal W}_N\) algebras can arise as structures embedded in the quantum elliptic algebra \({\mathcal A}_{q,p}(\widehat{sl}(N)_c)\) introduced in [\textit{O. Foda, K. Iohara, M. Jimbo, R. Kedem, T. Miwa} and \textit{H. Yan}, Lett. Math. Phys. 32, 259-268 (1994; Zbl 0821.17011)] and [\textit{M. Jimbo, H. Konno, S. Odake} and \textit{J. Shiraishi}, Quasi-Hopf twistors for elliptic quantum groups, Transform. Groups 4, 303-327 (1999)]. The authors show that at the critical level \(c=-N\) the algebra \({\mathcal A}_{q,p}(\widehat{sl}(N)_c)\) has an extended centre and compute the Poisson structures on this centre. These structures are then identified as \(q\)-deformed \({\mathcal W}_N\) algebras. The authors also show that if there exists an integer \(M\) such that \((-p^{1/2})^{NM} = q^{-c-N}\) then there exist quadratic exchange algebras which are commutative in the limit \(p= q^{Nh}\), where \(h\) is a non-zero integer. These algebras, however, are different from the quantum \({\mathcal W}_{q,p}(\widehat{sl}(N))\) algebras introduced in [\textit{B. Feigin} and \textit{E. Frenkel}, Commun. Math. Phys. 178, 653-678 (1996; Zbl 0871.17007)]. The related Poisson structures are computed.
