Let \(M\) be a Riemannian symmetric space of compact type and rank one, namely, a compact two-point homogeneous space. According to \textit{H.-c. Wang} [Ann. Math. (2) 55, 177--191 (1952; Zbl 0048.40503)], all the compact two-point homogeneous spaces are (1) the sphere \(\mathbb{S}^d\subset\mathbb{R}^{d+1}\), \(d\geq1\), (2) the real projective space \(P_d(\mathbb{R})\), \(d\geq2\), (3) the complex projective space \(P_l(\mathbb{C})\), \(l\geq 2\), (4) the quaternionic projective space \(P_l(\mathbb{H})\), \(l\geq 2\), (5) the Cayley plane \(P_2( \mathbb{C}ay)\). In this paper, the authors study the boundedness of the fractional integral operator \((-\Delta_M)^{-\sigma/2}\) related to the Laplace-Beltrami operator on the mixed norm space \(L^p(L^2(M))\). To be more precise, let \(0<\sigma<1\), then there exists a positive constant \(C\) such that, for any \(f\in L^p(L^2(M))\), \[ \|(-\Delta_M)^{-\sigma/2}f\|_{L^q(L^2(M))}\leq C\|f\|_{L^p(L^2(M))}, \] provided that (i) \(M=\mathbb{S}^d\) or \(P_d(\mathbb{R})\) with \(d\geq2\) and the exponents \(p,\,q\) satisfy \[ \frac{2d}{d+1}<p\leq q<\frac{2d}{d-1}, \quad and\quad\frac{1}{q}\geq\frac{1}{p}-\frac{\sigma}{d}; \] or (ii) \(M\) is one of the manifolds \(P_l(\mathbb{C})\), \(P_l(\mathbb{H})\) with \(l\geq 2\) or \(P_2(\mathbb{C}ay)\), and \(d=2,\,4,\,8\) and \(m=l-2,\,2l-3,\,3\) for \(P_l(\mathbb{C})\), \(P_l(\mathbb{H})\) and \(P_2(\mathbb{C}ay)\) respectively, and, moreover, the exponents \(p,\,q\) satisfy \[ \max\left\{\frac{2m+2}{m+3/2},\,\frac{2d}{d+1/2}\right\}<p\leq q<\min\left\{\frac{2m+2}{m+1/2},\,\frac{2d}{d-1/2}\right\} \] and \[ \frac{1}{q}\geq\frac{1}{p}-\min\left\{\frac{\sigma}{2m+2},\,\frac{\sigma}{2d}\right\}. \] To prove their results, the authors first establish some weighted inequalities for fractional integral operators associated to trigonometric Jacobi polynomials expansions. In particular, they find a novel sharp estimate for the Jacobi fractional integral kernel with explicit dependence on the type parameters.
