The author considers the inverse problem of computing a principal coefficient function \(P\) in the Dirichlet value problem \(-\nabla(P(x)\nabla)=f\), \(x\in \Omega\subset \mathbb R^M\), \(M\geq 1\), \(u|_{\partial\Omega}=\Phi|_{\partial\Omega}\), where \(\Omega\) is an open simply connected bounded set with a \(\mathcal C^{1,1}\) boundary and the solution function \(u\) and the right-hand side \(f\) are known only approximately. This problem is solved by minimization of an associated functional. The author discusses the stages of numerical realization and gives results of numerical experiments.
