The authors study fine differentiability properties of a horizon in an \((n+1)\)-dimensional space-time. They show that the set of endpoints of generators (i.e. future inextensible null geodesics) of an \(n\)-dimensional future horizon has vanishing \(n\)-dimensional Hausdorff measure, and that the set of such endpoints at which the horizon is differentiable has the same property. Moreover, the set of endpoints such that the convex hull of the generators leaving the horizon has dimension \(k\) is, in a sense made precise, almost a \(C^2\)-manifold of dimension \(n+1-k\). Results in Lorentzian geometry are paralleled in the paper with information on the distance function and cut loci in Riemannian geometry.
