The authors consider a two-dimensional area-preserving map previously studied by \textit{E. M. Bollt} [Int. J. Bifur. Chaos Appl. Sci. Eng. 9, 2081--2090 (1999)]. They study analytically the eigenvalues of this map and determine the zones of non-hyperbolicity. Numerically they find a chaotic invariant set of the map. Parts of this chaotic set belong to the theoretically determined non-hyperbolic region.
