In the beginning, some pages are devoted to the history of the subject. Then the 130 references from the period up to 1984 are discussed. Typically, the specific form of the singularly perturbed boundary value problem considered in a reference is written down, and some remarks on the solution method and/or the results are given. Sometimes, the authors present the numerical scheme in detail. However, no real attempt is made to organize the material, so the paper resembles rather a collection of abstracts of varying depth. In the end, some recent papers of the authors are presented in a similar manner.
