This is an expository article devoted to the description of properties of the Diederich-Fornaess worm domain in complex space. It starts with the detailed discussion of the notion of worm domain. It is proved, in particular, that the worm is Levi pseudoconvex. Then, non-smooth versions of the worms are considered by outlining some of Kiselman's results. The irregularity of the Bergman projection of the worm as well as irregularity properties of the Bergman kernel are discussed, too. Special attention is paid to the automorphism group on the smooth worm.
