Let \(\Bbbk\) be a field, \(\mathcal L \subset \mathbb Z^n\) be a lattice such that \(\mathcal L \cap \mathbb N^n = \{0\}\), and \(I_{\mathcal L} \subset R = \Bbbk [x_1, \dots ,x_n]\) the corresponding lattice ideal. In the paper under review, the authors study complexes that are as subcomplex of any minimal free resolution of \(R/I_L\). They call it indispensable complex for \(R/I_L\). They present the generalized Scarf complex of \(I_{\mathcal L}\) and show that it is indispensable in the sense that it is contained in every minimal free resolution of \(R/I_{\mathcal L}\).
