This paper studies a cultural evolution model for the dynamics of interethnic attitudes by modeling attitudes as continuous cultural traits with changing intensity due to a complex system of out-of-family social interactions that affects the transmission process. In this model, an oblique socialization in which attitudes are formed as combinations of the attitudes observed in society is introduced. It is shown that convergence of attitudes can be guaranteed by imposing row stochasticity on the oblique socialization matrix, given standard convex vertical socialization costs. Given an oblique socialization matrix, the convergence steady state may be inferred. The model is also applied to the case of the US.
