A development of an algorithm for removing an undesirable linear motion blur from images is presented. Blurring occurs during imperfect image processing, for example due to a relative motion between the camera and the original scene or by a defocused optical system. Motion blur results when the recorded image changes during the recording of a single exposure, either due to rapid movement or long exposure. The main goal of the developed algorithm is to estimate the original image from the blurred one and a priori knowledge of the degradation phenomenon. The proposed method is based on the least square solution of the matrix equation representing the linear motion blur, the Moore-Penrose inverse of the blurring matrix as well as an appropriately chosen matrix including. The main advantage of the developed method resides in the improvements of image restoration algorithms such as ISNR (improvement in signal to noise ratio) and PSNR (peak in signal to noise ratio). Experimental evaluation and numerical results of the developed algorithm are described, too.
