The following Bernfeld-Haddock conjecture was posed in 1976: Every solution of the delay differential equation \[ x'(t)=-x^{\frac13}(t)+x^{\frac13}(t-r), \] where \(r>0\), tends to a constant as \(t\to\infty\). In the paper, the author studies the delay equation \[ x'(t)=-F(x(t))+F(x(t-\tau(t))), \] where \(F:\mathbb{R}\to (0,\infty)\) is a bounded continuous function. The main result states that under suitable assumptions on \(F\), that include the case of Bernfeld-Haddock conjection, every solution of this equation is bounded and tends to a constant as \(t\to\infty\).
