The representation dimension of an Artin algebra \(A\) is defined to be the minimum of the global dimensions of the endomorphism algebras of generator-cogenerator modules over \(A\). It was shown that an Artin algebra is representation-finite if and only if its representation dimension is at most two. An open problem is to show that all tame algebras have representation dimension at most three. In the paper under review the authors show that a self-injective algebra which is socle equivalent to a weakly symmetric algebra of Euclidean type has representation dimension at most three. The proof uses the derived equivalence classification of weakly symmetric algebras of Euclidean type [\textit{R. Bocian, T. Holm} and \textit{A. Skowroński}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 191, No. 1-2, 43-74 (2004; Zbl 1063.16015)] and the fact that the representation dimension is invariant for self-injective algebras under derived equivalences [\textit{C.-C. Xi}, Adv. Math. 168, No. 2, 193-212 (2002; Zbl 1050.16004)] as well as the radical embedding method.
