The paper evidences that the process of estimating the nonlinear static part has a strong effect on the associated estimate of the linear dynamics in the Hammerstein system. The quantification of the variance error is provided, and it is shown that the frequency domain variability of the linear FIR subsystem estimate depends both on the estimate of the static input nonlinearity paremeter and the true linear dynamics as well. Two illustrative analytical examples are given.
