The paper discusses an adaptive technique for controlling a class of SISO nonlinear plants with linear parametric uncertainties, of relative degree one and expressed in the normal form. The controller is a static state feedback with time-varying gains adjusted by the adaptive scheme, and it renders the resultant closed-loop system equivalent to a passive system. The design strategy is applied to two examples that also provide relevant simulation results.
