Let \(\text{Gr}= \text{Gr}(m-n-1,P^N)\) be the space of \(N-n-1\) projective planes in \(P^N\), and \(H^0(\text{Gr},0(d))\) be the space of polynomials of degree \(d\) on Gr. For an \(n\)-dimensional algebraic variety \(X\) in \(P^N\) with Fubiny-study metric \({\mathcal W}\) let \(\text{Chow}(X)= f\in H^0(\text{Gr},0(d))\) be a defining section of the corresponding Chow variety \(Z\subseteq2 \text{Gr}\). The vector \(\text{Chow}(A)\) in general is said to be stable if \(\text{SL}(N+1)\text{Chow}(A)\leq C^{N+1}\) is closed and the stabilizer is finite. The emergence of stability is a necessary condition for the existence of canonical metrics such as Fubini-Study or Kähler-Einstein one. As to these metrics, \textit{G. Tian} [Commun. Anal. Geom. 2, No. 2, 239--265 (1994; Zbl 0846.32019)] has noted that there is an asymptotic equivalence between a Lagrangian for constant scalar curvature metrics, namely, Mabuchi energy, and a norm \(\|\;\|_Q\) on the space of stable \(\text{Chow}(X)\). In this paper the author assigns a new norm \(\|\;\|_\#\) to the space of \(\text{Chow}(X)\) to which now corresponds a singular Chow variety \(Z\), and presents the generalized Mabuchi energy \({\mathcal V}_{\sigma}^\#\) of \(Z\) for \(\sigma\in \text{SL}(N+1,C)\) as follows: Let \(\xi_\sigma\) be a function on \(P^N\) defined by \(\xi_\sigma(z)=\log|\sigma z|^2/ |z|^2\). Then the generalized Mabuchi energy \({\mathcal V}^\#_{\mathcal W}(\xi_\sigma)\) on \(X\) in \(P^N\) is shown to be of the form \[ {\mathcal V}_{\mathcal W}^\#(\xi_\sigma) =\frac{D(m+2)(d-1)}{V(m+1)} \log\frac{\|\sigma\cdot\text{Chow}(X) \|^2_\#} {\|\text{Chow}(X)\|^2_\#}, \] where \(m+1=(N-n)(n+1)\) and \(D\) denote the dimension of \(Gr\), and \(V= \text{vol}(Z)\). Thus, if \(Z_s\) is the singular locus of \(Z\) and \(z\) belongs to \(Z/Z_s\), then for \(\xi_\sigma(z)\) now written as \(\Phi_0(z)\) the form \({\mathcal V}_{\mathcal W}^\#(\Phi_\sigma)\) reveals the required generalized Mabuchi energy of our singular Chow variety \(Z\).
