Nonexpansive mappings and asymptotic regularity (Q1570935): Difference between revisions

The present paper is devoted to a new approach to asymptotic regularity of nonexpansive mappings in Banach spaces. The results are established for the larger class of directionally nonexpansive mappings and extend or complement those of \textit{M. Edelstein} [Am. Math. Mon. 73, 509-510 (1966; Zbl 0138.39901)], \textit{M. Edelstein} and \textit{R. C. O'Brien} [J. London Math. Soc. 17 (2), 547-554 (1978; Zbl 0421.47031)], \textit{S. Ishikawa} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 59, 65-71 (1976; Zbl 0352.47024)] and \textit{M. A. Krasnoselskij} [Usp. Mat. Nauk 10, 123-127 (1955; Zbl 0064.12002)].
