The authors study Banach spaces \(X\) over a complete non-Archimedean valued field \(K\) with a \(K\)-valued inner product \((\cdot ,\cdot)\) connected with the norm by the inequality \[ |(\cdot ,\cdot)|_K\leq \alpha \|x\|\cdot \|y\|,\quad \alpha >0. \] Note that \((x,y)\) is a non-degenerate bilinear form, but it is possible that \((x,x)=0\) for some \(x\neq 0\). It is shown that orthogonal operators (that is operators on the whole \(X\), which preserve the inner product) are continuous. However there exist discontinuous densely defined operators preserving the inner product. There exist also non-isometric orthogonal operators. Some specific examples of symmetric operators (with respect to the above inner product) appearing in the \(p\)-adic quantum mechanics are considered, in particular, a \(p\)-adic analogue of the position operator.
