A space \(X\) is discretely generated if for every \(A\subseteq X\) and every \(x\in cl (A)\), there exists a discrete set \(D \subseteq A\) such that \(x \in cl (D)\). A space \(X\) is weakly discretely generated if for every non-closed subset \(A \subseteq X\) there exists a discrete set \(D \subseteq A\) such that \(cl(D)-A = \emptyset\). The authors provide a number of sufficient conditions for a \(P\)-space to be weakly discretely generated. Furthermore, they present two examples of spaces which are not discretely generated and relate them to known results on the subject. The last result introduces a sufficient condition on a Hausdorff space of countable tightness which implies that the space in question is discretely generated.
