The author presents a system of axioms for the real absolute planes involving the notions of points and congruence. After defining a number of basic concepts he states seven axioms, dealing with lines, perpendicularity, symmetry, trapezoid, triangle, circle, and completeness. He shows that there are exactly two models of the real absolute plane, the real Euclidean plane and the real hyperbolic plane. The research in this paper builds on work of Bachmann, Benz, Hilbert, Karzel, Kroll, Lenz, Pejas, Schnabel, Schröder, and Sörensen.
