The main theorem of the article under review is that for a surface \(S\) of negative Euler characteristic (and at least one puncture) and any Dehn twist \(t_c\) along a simple closed curve \(c\), there is a sequence of pseudo-Anosov maps \(\{f_m\}\) so that \(f_m\) composed with any power of the Dehn twist remains pseudo-Anosov. In fact, these maps \(f_m\) can be chosen to be the products of Dehn twists along filling curves (positive in one direction, negative in the other).
