A Jordan triple product homomorphism is a map \(\varphi\) from a ring \(A\) into a ring \(B\) which satisfies \(\varphi(aba)=\varphi(a)\varphi(b)\varphi(a)\) for all \(a,b\in A\). From a result by \textit{F. Lu} [Linear Algebra Appl. 375, 311-317 (2003; Zbl 1061.47033)] it follows that a bijective Jordan triple product homomorphism \(\varphi\colon M_n(F)\to M_n(F)\), where \(M_n(F)\) is the ring of \(n\times n\) matrices over a field \(F\), is an additive map. The paper under review considers the case when \(\varphi\) is not necessarily bijective (and \(n\geq 3\)). The main result is too technical to be stated here. Let us just say that it gives a complete description of \(\varphi\) modulo those Jordan triple product homomorphisms on \(M_n(F)\) that annihilate all singular matrices.
