Let \(F_{0}:M\rightarrow N\) be a compact, immersed Lagrangian inside a \(2m\)-dimensional Calabi-Yau manifold \(\left(N,J,g_{N}\right)\). The Lagrangian is called almost calibrated if \(F_{0}^{*}dz=e^{i\alpha}\mathrm{vol}_{M}\) for some globally defined Lagrangian angle \(\alpha\in\left(-\frac{\pi}{2},\frac{\pi}{2}\right)\); here \(dz\), \(\mathrm{vol}_{M}\) denote the complex and Riemannian volume of \(N\), \(M\) respectively. With \(H\) denoting the mean curvature vector, consider the time evolution \(F\left(t\right):M\rightarrow N\) of \(M\) under the reparametrized Lagrangian mean curvature flow \(\partial_{t}F=H-\left(\tan\alpha\right)JH\), \(F\left(0\right)=F_{0}\). The main result is the estimate \(\epsilon\mathrm{vol}_{0}\Omega\leq\mathrm{vol}_{t}\Omega\leq\frac{1}{\epsilon}\mathrm{vol}_{0}\Omega\), with uniform constant \(\epsilon:=\min_{M}\cos\alpha>0\), for the evolution of the volume of a measurable subset \(\Omega\subset M\) and is proved by an application of the maximum principle for the parabolic equation satisfied by the Lagrangian angle. This volume estimate can help in understanding the possible singularities that can form under the flow. For example, the author obtains as a consequence that the product \(\Gamma\times\Sigma\) of the `grim reaper' \(\Gamma:=\left\{ \left(x,\log\frac{1}{\cos x}\right)|x\in\left(-\frac{\pi}{2},\frac{\pi}{2}\right)\right\} \subset\mathbb{C}\) with a minimal Lagrangian \(\Sigma\subset\mathbb{C}^{m-1}\) cannot appear as a blowup singularity in the evolution of such a compact, calibrated Lagrangian.
