In this nice continuation of their article [Topology Appl. 214, 35--50 (2016; Zbl 1360.54018)], the authors prove that for any ordinal \(\kappa\) the space \(C_p(\kappa)\) is an Ascoli space (Theorem 1.1), whereas it is a \(k_{\mathbb R}\)-space if and only if \(\kappa\) has countable cofinality (Theorem 1.2). So, they give an example for a \(C_p\)-space that is Ascoli but not \(k_{\mathbb R}\). Concerning the compact-open topology on the function space over an ordinal \(\kappa\) it is proved, that \(C_{k}(\kappa)\) is an Ascoli space if and only if \(\kappa\) has countable cofinality, so it is completely metrizable in this case. Furthermore, it is shown, that for locally compact \(X\) the space \(C_p(X)\) is Ascoli if and only if \(X\) is scattered.
