The authors prove complete monotonicity properties of some functions connected with the polygamma functions. For example, if \(a\) is a real number, then \(a|\psi^{(i)}(x)|- x|\psi^{(i+1)}(x)|\) is completely monotonic on \((0,+\infty)\) iff \(a\geq i+1\). The similar property holds for the function \({a\over x}|\psi^{(i)}(x)|- |\psi^{(i+1)}(x)|\).
