On the constants for multiplication in Sobolev spaces (Q859621): Difference between revisions

The inequality analysed in this paper refers to the pointwise multiplication in \(H^n(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{C})\) for any \(d> n/2\). The authors are interested in the best constant \(K_{nd}\) such that \[ \| fg\|_n\leq K_{nd}\| f\|_n\cdot\| g\|_n \] for all \(f,g\in H^n(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{C})\), where \(\|\cdot\|_n\) is the standard norm of the Sobolev (Bessel potential) space \(H^n(\mathbb{R}^d,\mathbb{C})\). In the present study the authors derive upper and lower bounds for these constants, for any dimension \(d\) and any (possibly noninteger), \(n\in(d/2,+\infty)\). Moreover, the analysis of the authors also includes the limit cases \(n\to (d/2)^+\) and \(n\to+\infty\), for which asymptotic formulas are presented.
