The paper is concerned with the stability of transonic shocks arising in steady supersonic flow past a wedge. Generally two possible locations for shocks are possible: supersonic-supersonic and supersonic-subsonic (transonic). The compressible flow is described by the potential flow equation. The main result is that the transonic shock is stable with respect to the perturbation of the upstream flow provided the pressure (or velocity) at infinity is well controlled.
