From the abstract: We prove in this paper that for quasi-compact and semi-separated (not necessarily noetherian) schem \(X\), the derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves over \(X\), \(\mathbf{D}(A_{qc}(X))\) is a stable homotopy category in the sense of \textit{M. Hovey, J. H. Palmieri} and \textit{N. P. Strickland} [Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 610 (1997; Zbl 0881.55001)] answering a question posed by Strickland. Moreover we show that it is unital and algebraic.
