The author studies spaces of analytic functions defined by conditions on their derivatives and on their Fourier coefficients, and characterizes various families of mappings among them. As an application, he obtains necessary and sufficient conditions for a function to have a Lidstone expansion in the sense of \textit{J. M. Whittaker} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc., II. Ser. 36, 451-469 (1933; Zbl 0008.16901)]. The results of \textit{J. D. Buckholtz} and \textit{J. K. Shaw} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 47, 626-632 (1974; Zbl 0294.30014)] apply to a different version of the Lidstone expansion.
