The object of this paper is to determine the precise behaviour of a family of theta-functions on the upper-half plane which are associated with indefinite quadratic forms and have ''spherical functions'' as coefficients. The factor of automorphy is determined on a ''large'' group, and the result is probably optimal in this respect.
