States on the tensoralgebra \b{E} over a vector space E of functions arise naturally in various domains of Physics and Mathematics. In this article the structure of states on certain tensoralgebras \b{E} is studied. States on \b{E} are nonnegative normalized continuous linear functionals on \b{E} and the most restrictive condition for a state is this 'positivity' condition. This condition is usually analyzed by the famous GNS-construction. But this does not take into account the special grading of a tensoralgebra by which states T have 'components' \(T_ n\), \(n=0,1,2,...:\) \(T=\{1,T_ 1,T_ 2,...\}\) which in turn have to satisfy complicated functional relations among each other in order that the positivity condition is satisfied. In order to give a kind of 'parametrization' of a state in terms of 'independent parameters' the concept of a 'Jacobi-field' respectively of a 'Jacobi-state' is suggested. In the case of a finite dimensional space E every state on \b{E} is 'parametrized' this way. If however E is infinite dimensional additional domain problems arise related to algebras of unbounded operators which are naturally involved. It is analyzed to which extent this 'parametrization in terms of Jacobi- fields' also works in this general case, and it is shown that for many basic spaces E occuring in applications 'most' of the states admit indeed such a parametrization. Some properties of such states as well as some applications are indicated.
