A matrix trace inequality for products of Hermitian matrices (Q1305476): Difference between revisions

The author proves that \[ \text{tr}(AB)^{2^k} \leq\text{tr} (A^{2^k}B^{2^k}), \] for all Hermitian matrices \(A\) and \(B\), and all natural numbers \(k\). It would be interesting to know if, conversely, this inequality characterizes the trace among all linear functionals.
