    Let \(\{M_ p\}_{p\geq 0}\) be a sequence of real strictly positive numbers. We consider the Carleman class \(C\{p! M_ p\}\) (resp. the Beurling class \(B\{p! M_ p\}\)) of indefinitely differentiable functions in \(\mathbb{R}^ n\). Let \(E\) be a compact subset of \(\mathbb{R}^ n\), we denote by \(C_ E\{p! M_ p\}\) (resp. \(B_ E\{p! M_ p\}\)) the corresponding class of Whitney jets on \(E\) and by \({\mathcal R}\) the restriction map from \(C\{p! M_ p\}\) into \(C_ E\{p! M_ p\}\) (resp. \(B\{p! M_ p\}\) into \(B_ E\{p! M_ p\}\)). In this work, we give sufficient conditions on \(\{M_ p\}_{p\geq 0}\) and \(M_ p'\}_{p\geq 0}\) to have the following inclusions \[ C_ E\{p! M_ p\}\subset {\mathcal R}C \{p! M_ p\},\;B_ E\{p!M_ p\}\subset {\mathcal R}B \{p! M_ p'\} \quad\text{or} \quad C_ E\{p!M_ p\}\subset{\mathcal R}B \{p! M_ p'\}. \] This is, in some sense, a generalisation of the Whitney extension problem.
