The authors study the asymptotic behavior of the principal eigenvalue of the adjoint formulation of the Neumann problem for the standard linear convection-diffusion operator. The motivation for this work is multifold, we mention here but two outlets: homogenization work on Hamilton-Jacobi equations and homogenization of (fast) convection-diffusion-reaction equations posed in heterogeneous domains.
