Chaos synchronization is a modern technique with a potential use in information processing. In the paper, a new methodology for chaos synchronization via a hybrid (generalized plus identical) synchronization is explored. The point is that an arbitrary signal generated by an unknown dynamical system is synchronized in this way and then stored for further exploitation. Each finite-length signal can in principle be labelled and stored by a unique number. The hybrid chaos synchronization system consists of two Rössler chaotic oscillators coupled by the drive variable, endowed with the adaptive control system. This is realized by two unimodal functions found by ad hoc numerical experimentation in such way as to control the error synchronization system to the real equilibrium state. After stability analysis, massive numerical experiments are made for various input signals, namely handwritten numerals, chaotic trajectories, impulse signals, etc. The precision of convergence of the control parameter is guaranteed by its careful choice based on the trial-and-error method. Numerical results support the methodology explored in the paper. The potential application of the designed method is likely to be in information encoding and storage and security systems such as password check and key identification. On the other hand the method is not appropriate for noisy signal communication and pattern recognition.
