This is a very useful textbook about mathematical cosmology as an application of the theory of dynamical systems. The author takes care about the several notions of self-similarity - physical versus geometrical ones. Chapter 2 introduces dynamical systems and chapter 3 the spatially homogeneous cosmological models. Chapter 4 starts with equilibrium points within the class of models with scalar field and barotropic matter. Other chapters deal with open and closed Friedmann models, and with several anisotropic Bianchi models, and from the physical side, the author deals with magnetic fields, strings, and also with scalar-tensor theories of gravitation. The 380 references give a good source for further-reading.
