The authors deal with the existence of a solution (in a sense to be determined) of the following nonlinear parabolic problem \[ \begin{gathered} {\partial u\over\partial t}+ w\Delta u- \text{div}[A(x,t,u)\nabla u]+ g(x,t,u)= f\quad\text{in }\Omega\times (0,T),\\ u= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega\times (0,T),\quad u|_{t=0}= u_0(x)\quad\text{in }\Omega,\end{gathered}\tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain. Under some suitable assumptions on the data of (1), the authors develop a technique which relies on the notion of renormalized solution and an adequate regularization in time for certain truncation functions. Some uniqueness results are also presented.
