State integrals involving Faddeev's quantum dilogarithm [\textit{L. D. Faddeev}, Lett. Math. Phys. 34, No. 3, 249--254 (1995; Zbl 0836.47012)] appeared in Quantum Topology such as in [\textit{T. Dimofte} et al., Commun. Number Theory Phys. 3, No. 2, 363--443 (2009; Zbl 1214.81151); \textit{J. E. Andersen} and \textit{R. Kashaev}, Commun. Math. Phys. 330, No. 3, 887--934 (2014; Zbl 1305.57024)]. It is well known that these state integrals can be written as finite sums of products of basic hypergeometric series. The authors of the paper under review focus on the case of 1-dimensional integrals (instead of the multi-dimensional case, for the purpose of clarity). They give a detailed proof for a family of one-dimensional integrals including state-integral invariants of the figure eight knot \(4_1\) and the knot \(5_2\).
