The authors construct explicit general linear methods of order \(p\) and stage order \(q= p\) with \(s= p= 1\) stages achieving a good balance between accuracy and stability. Conditions are imposed to ensure the stability matrix has only one nonzero eigenvalue. Examples of various stability regions are given.
