A left and right Noetherian ring \(\Lambda\) is called \(k\)-Gorenstein if, in the minimal injective resolution \(0\to{_\Lambda\Lambda}\to I^0\to I^1\to\cdots\) of the left \(\Lambda\)-module \(\Lambda\), one has \(\mathrm{fd}_\Lambda(I^i)\leq i\) for every \(0\leq i<k\) (here ``\(\mathrm{fd}\)'' denotes the flat dimension). It was proved by Auslander, that \(k\)-Gorensteinness is a left-right symmetric property. The paper under review is concerned with various homological properties of modules over \(k\)-Gorenstein rings. We present here just one of the main theorems which, in some sense, is also quite ``typical'' for the remaining results in the paper. The authors prove that for a \((k+1)\)-Gorenstein ring \(\Lambda\), the following conditions are equivalent: (1) The injective dimension of \(\Lambda\) is \(\leq k\). (2) The big finitistic dimension of \(\Lambda\) is \(\leq k\). (3) The small finitistic dimension of \(\Lambda\) is \(\leq k\). (4) Every finitely generated right \(\Lambda\)-module with reduced grade at least \(k+1\) is reflexive. (5) Every finitely generated right \(\Lambda\)-module with reduced grade at least \(k+1\) is torsionless.
